Please review our guidelines for the clothing young students should wear for recess outside.
- 51-60 degrees: long sleeves
- 41-50 degrees: jacket, sweatshirt, or coat
- 30-40 degrees: winter jacket, hat, and mittens or gloves, plus covered legs (tights or pants)
- 29 degrees and below, and if snowy: a full set of snow gear to play in the snow, including a winter jacket, snow pants, hat, mittens, and boots
Additional temperature guidelines, based on real feel as reported by the National Weather Service:
- Below 20 degrees: must be indoors
- Between 20 and 30 degrees: modified (10-15 minute) outdoor recess
- 30 degrees or above: standard outdoor recess
Snow gear reminder for students:
Students who do not wear snow pants and boots cannot play in the snow. We encourage students to keep extra snow gear in the classroom. Michigan Islamic Academy may modify this policy to respond to the best interests and safety of the students and staff.
