Middle School Science

Grade 6 Science

Science is the development of answers to questions through the use of observation, experimentation, and tested truths. Grade 6 students will practice the skills needed to open the door to the world of scientific research. Grade 6 Science will range from hands on labs to lecture and discussion. Students will also be working cooperatively in group projects. Occasionally supplemental videos will be used to enhance the learning experience. Students will be expected to keep a notebook and participate in in-class activities, which will be important for success in this class.

Topics in this course will include the following:

  • The Scientific Method
  • Science and Technology
  • Matter and Its Changes
  • Rocks and Minerals
  • Earth structure
  • Weathering and Soil
  • Water Erosion, Earthquakes, and Volcanoes
  • Weather and Climate
  • Earth surface
